During the presentation, students learned about the importance of reading and writing, and how the Writing Process is an essential tool for authors. Afterwards, Mr. Woodrow autographed the students' copies of "Class Dismissed" and "Pet War", another of his novels.
Updating Contact Information
As you are aware, on Thursday, January 14th, we had to evacuate both Healy buildings due to a gas leak outside of the school. Students, staff, and our neighboring schools did an excellent job of keeping everyone safe and warm, and we were able to contact over 85% of parents within moments of evacuation via text messages, emails, and/or phone calls. We have since ensured that we have updated contact information for every parent/guardian at Healy, but it is imperative that parents/guardians inform the office with updated contact information immediately when phone numbers change. Thank you for your help in ensuring we can contact you in case of emergency.
We ask that you listen to media sources for information during emergencies and school closings. During even small events like snow, callers often jam the lines seeking information that is readily available on our website, the radio, and television. An overflow of calls takes staff members away from other critical tasks during an emergency. Healy is part of the Chicago Public School (CPS) system, so when Chicago Public Schools are delayed, closed, or dismissing early, Healy is as well. Please remember that our school’s website (healy.cps.edu), the CPS information hotline (773-553-1000), and the CPS website (cps.edu), are excellent sources of information about school closings and unusual events.
