Dear Healy Parents and Students,
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new Principal of Robert Healy Elementary School. I feel privileged to be a part of this wonderful school community. Throughout the past eight years of serving as the Assistant Principal at Mark Sheridan Academy, a similarly high-performing, Level 1+, diverse elementary school located in the Bridgeport/Chinatown community, I have had past opportunities to work with the Healy staff and administration, and I have been deeply impressed by their hard work and endless dedication to their school. Throughout my new transition over the past few weeks, and even months, I have had even more interactions with Healy staff, parents, faculty, and students. From these conversations, it is clear there is a collegial partnership between all stakeholders to provide the best possible academic experience for our students. I look forward to fostering these relationships and working with the faculty to provide a world-class educational experience for every Healy child.
I served as a teacher for twelve years, both in private and public schools. Eight years ago when I transitioned from an Upper Grade classroom teacher at Skinner West to an administrative role, I made a pledge to myself to always use my influence and knowledge to educate both morally as well as academically. Although I knew that school leadership would dramatically change the scope and sequence of my job, I also knew that my true commitment to education would always stay the same; my commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of children. The best teachers that I have had in my lifetime have taught me much more than academics, they have also taught me important life skills- such as civility, service, kindness, work ethics, and respect. I have learned the importance of honesty, loyalty, perseverance, responsibility, self-discipline, compassion and honor. These are the principles on which I lead my life professionally and personally.
Our greatest initiative will be to continue to work together to provide differentiated learning opportunities for each student and inspire and challenge our students with engaging experiences. I am confident that together we can continue the Healy tradition of excellence by ensuring that it is a nurturing place for our students to learn and grow.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
I look forward to working with you.
Mrs. Elizabeth A. Nessner
