Congratulations to Sarah Boyd, 6th grade gifted teacher, on receiving the Lester Crown MSI Distinguished Teacher Award. Sarah was one of seven teachers awarded this for demonstrating extraordinary dedication to her students and the teaching profession. There was an award ceremony held at the Museum of Science and Industry to honor the recipients. Congrats again Sarah, Healy is very proud of you!
On September 28, 2016, De LaSalle High School hosted its "Academic Contest Game Show Night." Over a hundred students from private and public schools participated in teams of four to challenge each other in core subjects and trivia. The top four teams were awarded medals, and everyone received a t-shirt. Healy students took half the medals, placing in 2nd and 3rd place.
Our overall school attendance percentage for the month of November was 97.73%. We are proud to announce this is the highest it's been for November in four years! December has always been one of our lowest attendance months. There are only 16 school days in the month of December, so let's end this year with a bang and make this the best attendance month in Healy history! Also, don't forget about the attendance celebration on December 22nd for those students who qualify. Remember, attend school everyday and be on time 7:45!

Chicago's Best Public Schools
Congratulations to the entire Healy Community on being named one of Chicago Magazine's Top 15 elementary schools in Chicago! Healy was ranked number 8! This is a great accomplishment that wouldn't be possible without the parents, students and staff doing their part!
I would like to remind parents and community members that the Chicago Police Department will be issuing tickets to any vehicles parked in the alleys, double parked, and/or abandoned around our school.
The school day begins at 7:45 a.m. with breakfast in the classroom until 8:00 a.m. The school day ends at 2:45 p.m. The school building will not be open until 7:30 a.m.; therefore, please do not bring your child to school prior to this time. We don’t have any staff available to supervise your child if you send him/her to school before 7:30 a.m.
The following are the school’s policies regarding late arrivals and/or early dismissals:
We recommend parents to visit the CPS Parent Portal to monitor their child attendance, as well as their academic progress. Please contact the main office for information on how to access this portal.
New Photo Visitor Passes
The safety of Healy students, staff, parents and the school community is our #1 priority. As such, we have purchased a new photo visitor pass system for both the annex and the main building. Beginning Monday, December 7th, the front desk security in both buildings will be taking a picture of each visitor who enters the school building. This photo will be printed on a temporary visitor pass sticker that all visitors will be required to wear while in Healy buildings. We strongly believe this is going to help us maintain a more secure environment in our school. All visitors are required to complete this process in order to access any of our buildings.
